Delight in the subtle interplay of materials like wood and marble, creating an atmosphere of subtle luxury. Each element whispers a tale of Athenian heritage, inviting you to immerse yourself in the city’s rich architectural legacy.

Nestled in the heart of Athens, the project Hydria stands as a testament to the intertwining threads of modernism and contemporary design.

The existing building, graces a narrow site with only two facades – one facing the bustling main street, and the other overlooking a back yard.

The crux of the project lay in redefining the spatial layout. Formerly an office space, the interior was meticulously stripped down, leaving behind only structural elements that guided the ensuing design. Embracing the abundant natural light streaming through the two sunlit sides, the project unfolded with five to six rooms on each floor, flanking the front and rear of the building. The corridor leading to these rooms gracefully occupies the central axis, culminating in a penthouse on the 6th floor with an expansive private veranda offering a panoramic view of the Acropolis.

Hydria weaves a narrative of modern design entwined with vibrant, colorful details throughout the project. Walnut wood, brass accents, glass, and marble play harmoniously against a backdrop of distinctive colors and textures. The result is an interior that celebrates the complexity and spirit of Athenian architecture.

The hotel’s allure begins at the sidewalk, where oversized windows offer glimpses into the carefully curated experience within. Stepping inside, visitors are greeted by a distinctive wooden structure defining the lounge and reception area, subtly guiding the flow of movement. Subtle curves and level changes distinguish different functions within the space.

The lounge, with its olive burl wooden structure, features coves forming intimate booth seatings, a breakfast buffet countertop, and a public bar. The reception area seamlessly merges with the living space, where stairs not only facilitate movement but also serve as design elements. A central orange, curved-shaped marble table becomes a focal point amidst the curated surroundings.

Muted white serves as the canvas for a masterful composition of patterns and textures. Poplar burl wood encounters vibrant blue and orange shades, intertwining with the white swirls of Rosso Alicante marble. Inox details mirror these intricate patterns, creating a symphony of visual delight. White and grey elements provide a calming counterpoint to the dynamic, wavy patterns, completing an interior that is both modern and inviting.

As “Hydria” stands at the crossroads of modernism and contemporary allure, it invites guests to immerse themselves in a delightful experience inspired by the rich tapestry of Athenian architecture.
